Our story

​Long before I became a mother, I was an auntie.

After the loss of my brother, I found purpose in pouring love, guidance, and encouragement into the children around me. Those experiences helped me discover my passion for supporting young people and helping them realize their potential.

When my son, Kamali, was born, that passion became personal.

As a single mother, I have faced challenges, celebrated victories, and learned lessons that continue to shape who I am today. Kamali has undergone three ear surgeries, attended weekly speech therapy appointments, and faced learning and speech challenges along the way. Through it all, I never gave up on finding ways to understand him, advocate for him, and help him grow.

And neither did he.

His energy remains high, his heart remains loving, and his resilience continues to inspire me. Watching Kamali navigate his own journey made me want to better understand his emotions, how he thinks, and how children communicate, even when they may not yet have the words to fully express themselves.

That desire became part of my reason for returning to school to study Behavioral Health while working full time and raising my son. What began as a mother wanting to better understand her child opened my eyes to the impact that support, patience, advocacy, and early encouragement can have on a child’s life.

Through every season, Kamali has been my inspiration and motivation. No matter what obstacles come my way, I remind myself of one thing. Kamali is watching, learning, and growing.

That mindset became the foundation for Kamali Kares.

The Kamali Kares logo holds a special meaning. The heart is formed by both of our hands, mine and Kamali’s, symbolizing love, connection, and the impact we can make when we come together to care for others.

As I continue through life, I want Kamali to see the importance of giving back, serving others, and creating opportunities for those around us. I want him to know that if a seat is not available at the table, you can create your own. If the opportunity does not exist, you can build it. Your vision matters.

I also want other children to experience what every child deserves: a safe space, positive support, meaningful connections, and opportunities to have fun while learning and growing.

Our goal is to create experiences that build confidence, encourage growth, and remind every child that they are valued, capable, and loved.
